Bourbon Logistics wins contract with oil and gas major operator in Namibia

Bourbon Awarded Integrated Logistics Contract for Southern Namibia Oil & Gas Exploration

Bourbon Logistics has been awarded a prestigious new fully integrated logistics contract by a major oil & gas operator to support its exploration campaign and the drilling of its first well in the waters of southern Namibia. This contract, which is expected to span approximately six months, represents a significant milestone for both Bourbon Logistics and the client, marking the beginning of an enhanced logistics strategy for the operator’s ambitious oil exploration efforts.

Scope of the New Contract

The scope of the logistics contract encompasses the entire supply chain for the project, covering multiple aspects critical to the success of the drilling campaign:

  • Freight Forwarding: Bourbon will manage the international shipment and customs clearance of all equipment needed for the drilling campaign. This includes the transportation of materials from major international hubs such as Houston, Singapore, and Antwerp, to Walvis Bay, Namibia.
  • Logistics Base Services: The contract includes the comprehensive management of the logistics base, which will feature handling and lifting services, equipment management, storage and warehousing, waste management, tank cleaning, and other critical support services.
  • Marine Services: Bourbon will provide three Platform Supply Vessels—the Bourbon Diamond, Ruby, and Topaz—which will be dedicated exclusively to the project, providing essential marine support for the exploration campaign.

Advanced Logistics Management System

To ensure the smooth execution of the logistics operations, Bourbon will utilize its proprietary data management system, Bourbon Logistics Suite. This advanced software platform enables end-to-end planning, execution, and control of logistics operations, ensuring that the entire supply chain is managed efficiently and effectively.

Local Economic Impact and Training

The logistics operations will be based at a 7-hectare logistics base located in Walvis Bay, where almost 50 shore-based staff will be employed. Notably, 96% of the staff are Namibians, and they will benefit from specialized training, particularly in materials handling. This initiative is expected to further enhance the skillset of the local workforce and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Commitment to Safety and Efficiency

According to Nicolas Chateau, Managing Director of Bourbon Logistics, the company is committed to delivering exemplary management of the client's supply chain, ensuring that all deadlines are met while maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the project. Chateau emphasized, "This new contract confirms Bourbon Logistics’ expertise and the recognition by major oil & gas operators, who trust us to provide increasingly comprehensive services for their most ambitious projects."

Conclusion

This new contract represents another significant achievement for Bourbon Logistics, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of integrated logistics services in the oil & gas sector. With its proven expertise and commitment to safety and efficiency, Bourbon is poised to make a lasting impact on the success of the client’s exploration campaign in southern Namibia.
